DEARBORN, MI, MAY 17, 2022 — SupportEd President and Founder, Diane Staehr Fenner, PhD, gave the keynote presentation at the Michigan Association for Bilingual Education (MABE) in Dearborn, Michigan on May 5. MABE is a nonprofit organization that has been formed to encourage and promote multilingual education in the State of Michigan so that all children may participate in expanded education opportunities. The two-day conference, which focused on cultivating multilingual responsiveness, connected more than 500 teachers, administrators, and support staff with speakers, breakout sessions, networking, and more.

Dr. Staehr Fenner presented the keynote to a sold-out crowd on Leveraging your Expertise to Advance Multilingual Learners’ Equity. Dr. Staehr Fenner also conducted the full-day pre-conference session on May 4. The hands-on, interactive session, Culturally Responsive Teaching for Multilingual Learners: Tools for Equity, shared replicable ways participants can draw from students’ strengths and promote multilingual learners’ success within and beyond classroom walls.


“It is so urgent, now more than ever, to support MLs and families of MLs on a local, state, and national level,” conveyed Dr. Staehr Fenner. “So being able to collaborate, learn, and share the passion for MLs in-person with so many educators during MABE was energizing ,” stated Dr. Staehr Fenner.
